Slam Poet, George Watsky will be conducting a workshop

Slam Poet, George Watsky will be conducting a workshop at 3:30 p.m. at the Holland Theatre on March 5, 2010. This workshop is open to all interested students that have a passion for poetry, drama, the spoken word, performance art, and def poetry. And it is free!

Who is George Watsky?

George Watsky is a writer and performer who believes in the equal power of the tear and the belly laugh. Born and raised in San Francisco and now based in Los Angeles, Watsky aims to cross-pollinate the stage, screen and stereo with work that speaks to both the humor and frustrations of modern life.

At 20 years old he won the Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry Finals with a perfect score in 2006.

His slam team won BNV National Poetry Slam, with finals at a sold out Apollo Theater.

George was featured on 'Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO.

Don’t let this fantastic chance to involve your students (and yourself) in a once in a lifetime workshop with nationally known slam poet and performance artist George Watsky. If students wish to prepare a dramatic reading (poem, soliloquy, prose) they can do it during the workshop for George to hear. He will choose one or two to open for him on the stage at the Holland.
