Slam Poet, George Watsky will be performing at 7:30 p.m. at the Holland Theatre on March 5, 2010. His performance will appeal to all who have a passion for poetry, drama, the spoken word, performance art, and def poetry.
Who is George Watsky?
George Watsky is a writer and performer who believes in the equal power of the tear and the belly laugh. Born and raised in San Francisco and now based in Los Angeles, Watsky aims to cross-pollinate the stage, screen and stereo with work that speaks to both the humor and frustrations of modern life.
· At 20 years old he won the Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry Finals with a perfect score in 2006.
· His slam team won BNV National Poetry Slam, with finals at a sold out Apollo Theater.
· Watsky was featured on “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry” on HBO.
Slam Poet, George Watsky will also be conducting a workshop at 3:30 p.m. at the Holland Theatre on March 5, 2010. This workshop is open to all interested students that have a passion for poetry, drama, the spoken word, performance art, and def poetry. And it is free!
